Addiction & Recovery Therapy
I have been working with addicts and their loved ones for over 30 years. I created and was director of The Intensive-Outpatient Program for recovering addicts and The Family & Friends Program at Hazelden, New York. I have lectured around the world on addiction and families and worked with several treatment centers in the Los Angeles area, where I have my private practice. As the result of my expertise, I have been invited by various media outlets to discuss issues around addiction.
My treatment is based on bringing the philosophies and successful skills of 12-Step programs (AA, CA, MA, AL-Anon, GA, SLA, etc.) to my clients. I also respect where my clients are at in their recovery process, even if they are not yet ready to work with the 12-Steps. Addiction is a multi-layered issue, often caused by trauma, early-life parental attachment ruptures, work losses, physical illness, grief and/or genetics. As a result, I offer several proven modalities to treat these complexities. I also work with my client’s medical team, including doctors, psychiatrists and their current/former rehab programs and treatment professionals.
Along with the 12-Step skills, I offer my clients Mindfulness Skills, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Brainspotting, EMDR, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Attachment FocusedTreatment, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Family and Couple Therapy.
We will work together to free you from the prison of addiction and guide you towards a new life of emotional and physical health, spiritual connectedness, joy and purpose.
